Exclusive business energy leads for UK energy brokers

LeadsHunt sells exclusive business energy leads to energy brokers and suppliers in the UK. Each lead is a live enquiry from a small business asking for help with its electricity or gas contract, not a name from a data list. It goes to one buyer only, is never resold and is sent in real time.

Business energy lead facts

  • Exclusive or shared: exclusive. One broker or supplier per lead, never resold.
  • Who submits: UK microbusinesses asking about business electricity or gas contracts
  • Delivery: real time, as soon as the business submits.
  • Who can buy: UK energy brokers (third party intermediaries) and energy suppliers

What a business energy lead includes

Every business answers a short set of questions before the lead is sent. You see every answer.

  • Business. Business name, type of business and number of sites.
  • Fuel. Electricity, gas or both.
  • Current contract. Current supplier and when the contract ends, where the business knows.
  • Usage. Approximate annual usage or typical bill, where the business knows it.
  • Contact. Name and role of the person enquiring, phone number and email address.

"Business electricity" is searched about 1,600 times a month in the UK and "business energy" about 1,300. These are low volumes with high competition for clicks, so each enquiry carries real value for a broker.

Live leads vs renewal data

Some sellers offer business energy "data": lists of businesses with a contract end date, often sold to several brokers at once. Those businesses have not asked to hear from you. A LeadsHunt lead is different. The business has filled in a form asking for help with its energy contract, agreed to be contacted by one broker or supplier, and you receive its answers and consent record as soon as it submits.

We do not sell data lists or renewal data.

Exclusive vs shared leads

A shared business energy lead goes to several brokers at once. The owner of a small business gets a run of calls in a short time, and the contract often goes to whoever rings first.

An exclusive lead goes to you alone. The business's consent covers contact from a business energy broker or supplier about its contract, so your call is expected and you can take the time to review its usage properly.

Every LeadsHunt business energy lead is exclusive. We do not sell shared leads and we do not resell leads later.

Who can buy business energy leads

LeadsHunt sells these leads to UK energy brokers and to energy suppliers. Brokers must be signed up to a qualifying dispute resolution scheme to work with microbusinesses.

Compliance

Ofgem rules for brokers serving microbusinesses

Rules for brokers who work with microbusinesses have tightened, and more are planned. From the research behind this page:

  • Dispute resolution. Suppliers may only use brokers that are signed up to a qualifying dispute resolution scheme when dealing with microbusinesses.
  • Broker costs. For microbusiness contracts from 1 October 2024, suppliers must show broker costs in the contract's principal terms.
  • Further regulation. Ofgem does not yet licence brokers directly. Legislation to regulate third party intermediaries in the retail energy market is planned.

Each lead includes the business's consent record, so you can show how and when it agreed to be contacted. Telling the business clearly what you are paid for arranging its contract is part of selling these leads fairly.

Calling and emailing business leads

Business leads still fall under PECR. When you buy LeadsHunt business energy leads, you agree in our terms to:

  • contact each business only in the ways its consent covers
  • screen live sales calls against the Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS), unless the business has specifically agreed to calls from you
  • treat sole traders and some partnerships as individuals for email and text marketing rules
  • keep leads secure and never sell or pass them on

Read our Compliance page for how we handle consent.

Commercial solar leads

Some businesses reviewing their energy contracts also want to cut what they buy from the grid. If you or a partner fit solar PV, see our solar leads programme.

FAQs

Are business energy leads exclusive?

Yes. Every LeadsHunt business energy lead is sold to one broker or supplier only and is never resold later as an aged lead. The business's consent covers contact from a business energy broker or supplier about its contract, so your call is expected and the owner is not fielding calls from several firms.

Which businesses are these leads from?

Small UK businesses, mainly microbusinesses, asking for help with their electricity or gas contract. Each lead shows the type of business, number of sites, fuel, current supplier and contract end date where known, so you can see what the account involves before you call.

Do I need to be in a dispute resolution scheme to buy these leads?

Yes, if you are a broker. Suppliers may only use brokers signed up to a qualifying dispute resolution scheme when dealing with microbusinesses, so we sell business energy leads only to brokers who are members. We will ask for evidence of your scheme membership when you apply.

Do I need to screen calls to these businesses against the CTPS?

Live sales calls to businesses registered with the Corporate Telephone Preference Service need the business's specific consent to calls from you. Each lead comes with a consent record you can check. Screen anything outside that consent, and keep your own do-not-call list for businesses that ask not to be called again.

How quickly are business energy leads delivered?

In real time, as soon as the business submits its enquiry. Each lead goes to the person or system you choose when your account is set up. Calling quickly matters, because the owner has just asked for help with a contract and may have a renewal date coming up soon.

What is the 5 minute rule for leads?

It is a sales rule of thumb: call a new enquiry within five minutes of it arriving, while the person is still at their desk and still thinking about the problem. It only works if leads reach you straight away, which is why LeadsHunt sends business energy leads in real time rather than in daily batches.

How do I find leads for my energy broking business?

Referrals from existing customers, partnerships with accountants and business networks, your own website and paid search all bring in enquiries. Buying exclusive leads adds live enquiries from businesses that have asked for help with their contract, without the cold calling that data lists need. Most brokers combine several of these.

How do energy brokers make their money?

Many brokers are paid commission on the contracts they arrange, often set per meter. Some brokers publish their commission rates, which rise with the business's annual energy usage, so a larger account is worth more to the broker. For microbusiness contracts from 1 October 2024, suppliers must show broker costs in the contract's principal terms.
