Privacy notice
This notice explains how LeadsHunt uses personal data: what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have. It covers people who use this website, installers and their staff who enquire about or buy leads, and homeowners who make an enquiry on one of the websites we operate under other brand names, whose enquiries we pass to installers.
1. Who we are
LeadsHunt runs this website, leadshunt.co.uk, where installers find out about our service and apply to buy leads. We also run websites under other brand names, where homeowners ask for quotes for home energy work. Homeowners do not make enquiries on leadshunt.co.uk.
LeadsHunt is the controller of the personal data described in this notice, including the details homeowners give us on the websites we operate under other brand names. This means we decide how and why that data is used.
2. Personal data we collect
If you use this website
- Technical data, such as your IP address, browser type, device and the pages you visit, collected by our hosting and security providers when the site loads.
- Cookie and analytics data, only if you accept analytics cookies. See our cookie policy.
If you enquire about buying leads, or buy them
Through our "See if you qualify" form and later conversations:
- Your name, email address, phone number and preferred call time
- Your company name, website and country
- Your team size, the lead programmes you are interested in and the monthly volume you can handle
- Whether you want marketing emails from us
If you are a homeowner who made an enquiry
You made your enquiry on one of the websites we operate under other brand names, not on this website. Through that enquiry form we collect:
- Your name, phone number, email address and postcode
- The type of work you asked about and your answers to our questions, such as homeownership, property type, current heating fuel, energy bill range and timeline
- A record of your consent: the time you submitted, the page you used and the wording you agreed to
3. How we use your data and our lawful basis
UK GDPR requires a lawful basis for each use. The table shows the basis we rely on.
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Review your enquiry, check you qualify and contact you about it | Steps at your request before entering a contract, where you are a sole trader or partnership; legitimate interests (responding to a business enquiry) where you contact us on behalf of a company |
| Supply leads, manage your account, invoice and collect payment | Performance of a contract, or legitimate interests where the contract is with your company |
| Score enquiries so we can prioritise them | Legitimate interests (handling enquiries efficiently). See section 8 |
| Send you marketing emails about new lead programmes | Consent (the unticked box on our form). You can withdraw at any time |
| Run analytics cookies | Consent, given through our cookie banner |
| Keep the website and our systems secure and prevent fraud | Legitimate interests |
| Keep records we are required to keep, such as for tax | Legal obligation |
| Deal with legal claims and complaints | Legitimate interests |
How we capture homeowner consent is explained on our Compliance page.
4. Who we share your data with
We do not sell installer or website visitor data. We share personal data only with:
- Service providers who process data for us under contract, such as website hosting, database hosting, email delivery, DNS and security, and analytics tools.
- Professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers, where needed.
- Authorities, such as the ICO, HMRC or the police, where the law requires it.
- A buyer of our business, if the business or its assets are sold.
Homeowners: your enquiry is passed to one installer only, the one that buys it, so that they can contact you about your quote. We never sell or pass your enquiry to any other installer, then or later. That installer then uses your details as a separate controller, under their own privacy notice.
5. International transfers
Some of our service providers are based outside the UK or store data outside the UK.
6. How long we keep your data
| Data | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Marketing preferences | Until you unsubscribe, then a suppression record so we do not email you again |
When a period ends, we delete or anonymise the data.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- be told how we use your data (this notice)
- ask for a copy of your data
- ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your data
- ask us to restrict how we use your data
- object to how we use your data, including any use for direct marketing, which we will always stop
- ask for data you gave us to be transferred to you or another organisation, in some cases
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
Some rights only apply in certain circumstances. We will usually respond within one month, and we will tell you if we need longer. We will not normally charge a fee.
8. Automated decisions and scoring
Our enquiry form gives each installer enquiry a score, based on your answers about country, website, team size, monthly volume and the lead programmes you chose, so we can prioritise replies.
9. Cookies
We only set analytics cookies if you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time from "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. Full details, including each cookie we use, are in our cookie policy.
10. Keeping your data secure
We use access controls and encrypted connections (HTTPS) to protect personal data, and our service providers must protect it too.
11. Complaints
You have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk, helpline 0303 123 1113.
12. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice.
