Mortgage and protection leads for FCA-authorised brokers

For FCA-authorised brokers only. LeadsHunt is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We do not give advice on mortgages or insurance, or arrange them.

LeadsHunt sells exclusive mortgage and protection leads to FCA-authorised brokers and advisers in the UK. Each lead is a person asking to speak to a broker about a mortgage, a remortgage, life insurance or income protection, sold to one firm only and never resold.

Mortgage and protection lead facts

  • Status: open to FCA-authorised brokers
  • Exclusive or shared: exclusive. One broker per lead, never resold.
  • Who submits: UK consumers asking to speak to a broker about a mortgage, a remortgage or protection cover
  • Who can buy: FCA-authorised mortgage and protection brokers and advice firms, and their appointed representatives

Mortgage and remortgage leads

People asking a broker about a mortgage for a home purchase, or about remortgaging their current home. "Mortgage broker" is searched about 14,800 times a month in the UK and "remortgage" about 12,100.

Protection leads: life insurance and income protection

People asking a broker about protection cover, such as life insurance, income protection or cover linked to a new mortgage. Many brokers want protection leads alongside mortgage leads, so you can choose either or both. "Life insurance" is searched about 27,100 times a month in the UK and "income protection insurance" about 18,100.

Insurance distribution is regulated by the FCA separately from mortgage advice, so the permissions a buyer needs for protection leads may differ from those for mortgage leads.

How mortgage and protection leads are qualified

Every person answers a short set of questions before the lead is sent, and you see every answer. It is likely to cover:

  • What they need. Purchase, remortgage, or protection cover.
  • Their situation. For example first-time buyer, home mover or existing homeowner.
  • Timing. When they are looking to buy, move or remortgage.
  • Contact preferences. How and when they would like a broker to get in touch.

LeadsHunt does not give advice. A lead is a request to speak to a broker, nothing more.

How this programme works

Mortgages and protection insurance are FCA-regulated, so this programme works differently from our home energy leads.

  • Buyers. Leads go only to firms with the right FCA permissions for the type of lead.
  • Consumer Duty. Firms that buy these leads are expected to meet the FCA's Consumer Duty.
  • Calls and consent. PECR and the Telephone Preference Service apply to every call, text and email. Buyers must screen calls outside the consent given. Each lead comes with a consent record.

This section is not legal advice.

Exclusive vs shared leads

A shared mortgage lead can go to several brokers at once, and the person enquiring gets a run of calls in a short time.

An exclusive lead goes to one firm. The person's consent covers contact from an FCA-authorised mortgage and protection broker, so they hear from one firm and your call is expected.

Every LeadsHunt mortgage and protection lead is exclusive. We do not sell shared leads and we do not resell leads later.

FAQs

How do I apply for mortgage and protection leads?

Tell us about your firm on our contact page: the FCA permissions it holds, your firm reference number, the lead types you want and the areas you cover. We review every enquiry before setting up a programme, and leads go only to firms with the permissions each lead type needs.

Are mortgage and protection leads exclusive?

Yes. Every LeadsHunt mortgage and protection lead is sold to one broker only and is never resold later as an aged lead. The person's consent covers contact from an FCA-authorised mortgage and protection broker, so they hear from one firm rather than several, and your call is expected.

Do I need to be FCA authorised to buy these leads?

Yes. Only FCA-authorised brokers and advice firms, and their appointed representatives, with the permissions needed for each lead type can buy them. We do not sell these leads to unregulated firms.

Do you sell protection leads?

Yes, alongside mortgage and remortgage leads. Brokers can choose mortgage leads, protection leads or both when they set up a programme, as long as they hold the permissions each type needs. Protection leads cover life insurance and income protection enquiries, among others.

Have people received advice before the lead is sent?

No. LeadsHunt does not give mortgage or insurance advice. A lead is a person who has asked to speak to a broker, with their answers to a few qualifying questions and a consent record. The advice, and every recommendation, comes from the authorised broker who buys the lead.

Regulatory information

What LeadsHunt does. LeadsHunt passes enquiries from people in the UK who have asked to speak to a broker about a mortgage, a remortgage or protection insurance to firms authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Each enquiry goes to one firm only.

What LeadsHunt does not do. LeadsHunt is not authorised or regulated by the FCA. We do not give advice on mortgages or insurance, we do not arrange them, and we do not recommend any product, lender or insurer. Any advice comes from the authorised firm that receives the enquiry.

Who can receive these enquiries. Only firms authorised by the FCA, and their appointed representatives, with the permissions needed for each type of lead can buy these leads. Mortgage advice and insurance distribution are separate permissions, so a firm may qualify for one type of lead and not the other.

Checking a firm. Anyone can check whether a firm is authorised, and what it is permitted to do, on the FCA Register at register.fca.org.uk.
